Well done to the children and parents in these classes!
Dear Parents/Carers,
Lots of exciting things have been happening across the Federation this week. Our Prayer leaders attended RE Day at Good Shepheard had created a wonderful piece of artwork alongside 80 other children from Croydon Catholic Schools. It was great to hear feedback about our children's participation and see the wonderful artwork that was produced by the children. Thank you to Mrs Power and Ms Marshal for taking the children and supporting the development of their prayer and worship.
On Wednesday, all teachers attended the Deanery Mass at St. Chad's after school. It was great to begin the year reminding ourselves of our mission to serve our children and community and worship with our colleagues from Catholic schools in our local area.
The children had an assembly and visit from Ricardo Pires the famous Portuguese saxophonist on Wednesday. The really enjoyed his music and were engaged throughout. Thank you to Mrs Santos for arranging this enrichment activity as part of our language provision.
Letters went out about parents evening on 14th-16th October and booking on Arbor is live.
Some parents have mentioned that they are unsure of events happening in school, please see the key dates at the bottom of this newsletter. The information is also on your arbor calendar and we send out in app reminders and emails about events happening in school, usually 2 weeks in advance.
Next week Friday, the children can wear yellow to support mental health day. You will be able to make a donation on arbor or children can bring in a coin. Last year, many parent wore yellow too and it was so uplifting to see. You are all invited to join us for a coffee morning that morning as well. A letter went out this week, leader will be in attendance.
In light of the attack that happened in Manchester yesterday, we prayed as a team for the victims and their families. May we have peace and love in the world.
On Monday, we are celebrating our beginning of year Mass 9.15am at Virgo Fidelis Church. The new parish priest, Fr Thomas, will be leading the Mass. We hope that many of you can join us. If any parents in the Infant school are able to support with the walking of Reception and Y1 children to Mass please let your child's teacher know on drop off.
If you have a concern about your child's development or school experience, please inform your child's class teacher in the first instance, they are with your child every day and are best placed to support you. The best time to speak to them is the end of the day, you can also contact the school office. Leaders are also always available to support if your issue is not resloved.
We hope you and your family stay safe and have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Ashley and the Team
We do many things across the Federation to support the children socially and emotionally. This week, sports mentoring sessions began with Coach Sinclair.
The purpose of these sessions is to improve confidence, provide support, reduce stress and isolation and encourage collaboration and team-building skills. Children work in small groups with expert guidance to tackle these areas in a fun and engaging way that focuses on sportsmanship.
Children left the sessions feeling reflective, which in turn has a positive impact to their working environment.
This week in RE, our Reception children explored the wonderful story of God’s creation. They listened carefully to the story and shared thoughtful ideas about the world around them. From the sky above to the animals and plants, they noticed all the beauty in God’s world. The children worked together with friends to create colourful collage pictures. Their creativity and teamwork brought the story to life in a vibrant classroom display. We are so proud of their lovely work celebrating all that God has made!
This week, Key Stage 1 celebrated World Poetry Day with a wonderful mix of creativity,
expression, and fun!
Children across the year 1 and 2 enjoyed reciting poems, performing for their classmates, and even writing their own imaginative verses. From silly rhymes to thoughtful lines, it was fantastic to see how confidently and creatively our young poets shared their work.
Performances were filled with expression and enthusiasm, showing how much the children
enjoyed bringing poetry to life. We're so proud of the effort, confidence and joy they showed in celebrating the power of words!
Well done to all our budding poets!
This week Y4 have continued to work hard in all their work. we have learned about Roman numerals in maths, had a special poetry lesson on Thursday to celebrate World Poetry Day and continued to learn about the lives of children in the past, our teeth and the digestive system and about Abraham and Moses in RE. We have particularly enjoyed learning about the different aspects of fitness in PE - strength, stamina, speed, agility, balance and co-ordination.
This week we have been busy learning about Space, Ancient Greeks and writing poems for Poetry Day! The children have written about their dreams, whether it's their dreams of a magical place or what they want their future to be like. We had some wonderfully mature and thoughtful ideas from being able to fly, to be being judges, and following in their parents footsteps. Our future is bright!
On Thursday 2nd October 2025, 7 of us went to Dulwich College to represent the school in a football tournament. We had a great time. We all worked together as a team. We all had each others back when it was hard. It was a mind blowing time.
