Well done to the children and parents in these classes!
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break and enjoyed precious time with your families.
As we return to school, we carry with us the special message of Easter, the most important celebration in our Catholic faith. Easter reminds us of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope, new life and renewal that this brings to each of us. Through Jesus's sacrifice and resurrection, we are reminded that love conquers all, that there is always hope even in difficult times, and that we are called to live as people of faith, sharing God's love with others. Let us carry this message of hope and joy with us throughout this term.
Our children have been engaged in some truly excellent learning projects this term. Next week, Year 5 will be performing their production of Macbeth, having worked with specialist creative arts teachers and the Globe Theatre last term. We are very excited to see the fruits of their hard work and creativity brought to life on stage. This has been a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to develop their understanding of Shakespeare's work through drama and performance. Youa re all invited to attend.
I am delighted to share that St Joseph's remains committed to the ongoing professional development of our staff. Next week, Mrs Lodge and Mrs Daniels and I are all completing different National Qualifications for leadership. We are currently in our assessment window, which is a very intense period requiring significant focus and dedication. We would be most grateful if you could keep us in your prayers during this time as we work to further develop our leadership skills to serve our school community even better.
This commitment to continuous improvement reflects our dedication to providing the very best education and care for your children, and we are proud to be investing in all staff so St Joseph's remains innovative and forward thinking.
Wishing you all a great weekend,
Mrs Ashley and the Team
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." - Romans 15:13
This year Mental Health Awareness Week is from 11th - 17th May, which also coincides with the Year 6 SATs Week - please keep the children in your thoughts and prayers during this week. The theme for this year is all about taking action for yourself, someone else or your community - raising awareness about mental health is vital, but real change only happens when we take action.
So, this Mental Health Awareness Week, find your one thing to boost your mental health. Choose one positive action that works for you.
The environment we live in impacts our mental health. Think about what can you do to help build mentally healthy communities, workplaces and schools.
Individual actions matter, but they're only part of the story. We need those in power to take action to ensure good mental health for everyone in the UK. Perhaps consider writing to your local MP to tell them how important mental health is in your community.
The Nursery enjoyed lots of different activities for maths day, we wrote numbers, looked at shapes, counted and dressed up, everyone enjoyed the day.
Welcome back to the nursery for the summer term, hope you all had a nice Easter holiday.
Year 2 have been diving into the wonderful world of words, inspired by Robert Macfarlane’s The Lost Words. We’ve been learning all about the dandelion — that bright, cheerful flower that pops up everywhere! The children looked closely at real dandelions to create amazing observational drawings, then collected lots of exciting adjectives and built expanded noun phrases to describe their beauty and how they change over time. To finish, we turned all our ideas into brilliant acrostic poems that really bring the dandelion to life!
Year 3 have had a busy and exciting week! The children enjoyed a fantastic DT day where they designed and built their own castles, showing great creativity and teamwork. They also took part in a fun science day, exploring light and shadows through hands-on investigations. To top it all off, they started their swimming lessons this week and were brilliant in the pool. Well done, Year 3!
Year 5 have started their term with full preparations for the Macbeth play, and a trip to Hampton Court Palace this week! We had an amazing time. The children explored the Palace, the gardens, and had a special workshop where they were shown the room Shakespeare performed in for the Court. Thank you to our wondeful parent volunteers for making the journey possible.
This half term the Federation will have a History focus in their learning. Year 4 ended last term with a trip to the British Museum, and Year 1 to the V&A, to enhance their subject knowledge and Year 5 started this term with a wonderful workshop at Hampton Court Palace. Throughout the academic year all Year groups have a chance to explore one of the many historical offerings across London to enhance their learning, and give them that awe and wander beyond the classroom. Let's see where we go next year!
