The children shared wonderful insights about the Gospel's message. They understood that giving our worries to God brings peace, as He loves us and wants what's best for us. They recognised that following God's word keeps us on the right path with His protection, and that mistakes can be forgiven through prayer if we learn and do better. We offered our worries and troubles to God together and it was a lovely way to start our week.

Our Year 6 production, 'St Joseph's Got Talent', written by our very own Mr Abrahams, is really starting to take shape. The children have been working incredibly hard, and we can't wait to share their performances with you on 14th July. All parents/carers welcome.

Croydon Catholic Athletics Competition - Outstanding Success!

We're incredibly proud of our pupils who represented St Joseph's at the Croydon Catholic Athletics Competition this week. The children delivered some stellar performances and secured an impressive 2nd place overall.

We brought back around 20 medals, which really shows the high calibre of talent we have here at St Joseph's. Special congratulations go to Halle, Milena and Gabriel who secured gold medals and are now champions of their events! Milena and Gabriel are also our reigning Cross Country champions, I can image them competiting in the Olympics in the future! Well done to all the children who took part - you've made us all very proud!

Hot Weather Update

We continue to monitor the hot weather closely and will keep you updated. More cooling fans have arrived this week, and we're doing everything we can to ensure the inside of the school remains as cool as possible. Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this warm spell.

Sports Day - A Huge Success!

Our Sports Day was a fantastic event! All houses performed brilliantly, with St Martin winning both the infant and junior school contests! It was wonderful to see the children's enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the day. As ususal, our much anticipated parent races brought plenty of drama and joy, a much-loved tradition that everyone looks forward to! It's inspiring how many of you take part.

A special highlight this year was our grandma's race, held upon request! It was great fun and added to the wonderful community atmosphere.

A huge thank you to Mr Abrahams and all staff for making Sports Day such a success, and to our former pupils from Bishop Thomas Grant (BTG) who came back to assist us on the day. It was lovely to have them with us and to know that they are all doing so well.

Next week Wednesday we have a book sale and ice lolly sale at school and funds raised will go towards the new library and PTA. Next Saturday, we have our annual Colour Run and School Fair. Please contact a member of the PTA if you would like to help.

Early Years

Reception have learnt all about Baptism. The children were fascinated to learn what takes place during a baptism and understood that this a wonderful way to become friends with Jesus. We also shared the story of all the people who helped to look after the church, to show their love for Jesus and care for one another by keeping the church clean. We role-played baptising our dolls by making the sign of the cross, blessing with holy oil and welcoming them into the church family.

Key Stage 1

This week year 1 have enjoyed reading their new book 'The Scarecrow's Wedding'.

They enjoyed role playing, sequencing and retelling ghe story. It has been amazing to see the progress they have made this year. We are so proud of year1!

Lower Key Stage 2

Wow! What a fantastic week Year 3 have had! Lots of in class learning along with a wonderful swimming session. Today, we saw them compete in their first Junior Sports Day and they were all amazing! Such great sportsmanship, supporting one another and cheering for each other - they really are a fabulous group of children and we are very proud of them. Well done year 3!

Upper Key Stage 2

Year 5 have been super excited after Science Week and have become advocates for the Stag Beetle grubs they found in our forest. They channeled the love of wildlife and nature from David Attenborough and have fully immersed themselves as eco-warriors, saving bugs and our oceans.

PE

This week, our Infant and Junior teams proudly represented St Joseph's at their respective Catholic Athletics Competitions, demonstrating excellent determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout both events.

We are especially proud of our Junior team, who finished in an outstanding 2nd place overall, with numerous children also taking home individual medals for their fantastic performances. A huge thank you to all the staff who helped make both competitions a success, and to the parents and carers who came along to support and cheer on our athletes. Well done to everyone involved!
