Title:
Foundation Level GAA coaching development programme.
Duration:
Two hour block on Wednesday afternoon
Aims:
To increase the students knowledge and skills in gaelic football, camogie and hurling.
To develop students confidence in coaching juvenile players and be able to carry out training sessions.
To understand what good practice is with training teams and to promote that in their own training sessions.
Objectives:
Pupils will acquire and develop their skills in all areas of gaelic football, camogie and hurling.
Pupils will be able to plan and conduct a coaching session for juvenile players.
Pupils will be able to teach the basic skills of the game and evaluate performance and provide feedback to players.
Pupils will prepare training sessions and go to the local surrounding primary schools and gain first hand experience in coaching juvenile players.
Assessment:
Activities will be assessed by outside agencies (GAA) and pupils will be awarded certificates based on: Attendance and completion of log books and practical lessons.
Continuous assessment of student participation.
Peer / Mentor Observations.
Assessment of written work reports and log books.
