To increase the students knowledge and skills in a wide variety of physical activities.
To develop student self confidence and self esteem.
To promote a positive attitude towards participation in physical activities.
Pupils will acquire coaching skills and principles in their choice of the following activities: Soccer, Gaelic football, Basketball, Hurling/ Camogie, Rugby and Badminton.
Pupils will complete a recognised 1st aid course.
Pupils will visit a local health and fitness club and experience at first hand the facilities available there.
Pupils will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities including field and court games and their choice of the following: Aerobics, Athletics, Badminton, Dance, Gymnastics, Kick boxing, Pitch and Putt, Self defence, Swimming.

Students will complete an evaluation form during and at the end of the year.
Some activities will be assessed by relevant outside agencies that will award certificates.
Continuous assessment of student participation.
Assessment of written work reports and log books.
Short written tests.
