The Irish term Gaisce meaning achievement is the President’s Award in Ireland. This award is earned by young people between the ages of 15 and 25. The award requires young people to participate in several activities for a certain period including community involvement, a personal skill and physical recreation. There are three awards: bronze, silver and gold.
In T.Y in St.Colmcilles Community School we encourage students to aim for the bronze award. To receive a bronze award an applicant must complete 1 hour of the following each week for 13 weeks:
Community Involvement
Physical Recreation
A Personal Skill
One of your choice above must have 26 weeks completed. An adventure journey of 2 days and 1 night must also be completed. This is completed alongside the school and the rest of T.Ys participating later on in the year.
We look forward to students taking part in Gaisce and wish you the best in finding your community placements, skills and physical recreation. The Gasice webiste is linked below.
Best of Luck!
