• To instil a love of science and physics

• To further develop students laboratory skills

• To stimulate and encourage a positive attitude towards physics

• To relate physics to issues political, social and economic which are of concern to citizens.

• To relate to students the practical applications of physics in the workplace

• To help the students make a better informed choice about pursuing physics as a subject or as a career
