Heirs to his throne
Standing there in the late mourning air,
Three children clinging to his waist
A forth sleeping in his arms.
The smell of freshly turned dirt
Still wafts through the wind.
Today he had to bury his wife ,
A caring, courageous, beautiful soul .
A beloved mother to four.
A tear rolls down his cheek ,
Quickly he wipes it away,
to put on a smile.
He needs to be strong for his kids.
To teach them life will carry on,
Whilst he is crumbling inside.
And that’s what he does,
He manages that smile every day.
For he sees her beauty every morning
In each of the four.
He found the dancer in the youngest,
The daring, free spirited soul, the eldest.
Whilst his second born renews her recipes
Her twinkling eyes, full of laughter remain in the third.
I never got to see that tear that fell,
That glimpse of pain in his eyes,
Nor that fracture in his shell.
But I thank him for his protection.
For we all grew strong, empathizing and considerate.
All Heirs to his throne.

I gaze at the stars
and maybe even Mars
They are all so bright
on this wonderful winter night
I can feel the freeze with the breeze
Watching the trees
They're swaying with grace
In this wonderful place.

Winter
I step outside with my winter coat,
Walking slowly on the frozen ground,
The water lines the road like a moat,
As it flows there is no sound.
There is no longer an Autumn gale,
Which brought leaves to the ground,
In multi-coloured hail.
There is now a Winter breeze,
Which expels icy air,
Along with the decayed leaves.
The air stings like a hundred bitter bees,
The sky darkens as the rain batters down,
Hitting the ground with a soft but powerful sound.

The feeling of fear
The fear of being alone
The feeling of despair
The fear of having no hope
You’re stuck in a state of mind
You tell yourself you don’t care
But the worry is always there
You’re feeling conflicted, confused
The feeling of relief
When you don’t have to speak,
Answer the question,
Say what you think
The truth is, these feelings
Never go away
Like a tap on the shoulder
A whisper in your ear
Begins to smother you
You scream for help
No one can hear
Feels like you’re drowning
While everyone else is breathing
You’re cynical, a pessimist,
Skeptical, suspicious
But you try feeling anxious
Everytime you have to speak
You can hear your heartbeat in your ears
Your stomach turning like the tides
Your hands trembling like leaves
But you smile as wide as the moon
