Google Meet is Google’s video conferencing solution. It is a meeting platform alternative to Zoom, Teams, etc., and is suitable for meetings of all sizes. Google Meet integrates with Google Calendar and Gmail.
Your STCC account is a special educational account as part of STCC’s Google Workspace. You will have access to more features that are not available in a personal Gmail account:
Meeting lengths of up to 24 hours
Up to 100 participants per call
Live stream your call to other STCC users
Some other general useful features include:
Inviting people to join via Google Calendar
Closed Captions
React using emojis or raise your hand via the app
Join Google Meet calls via phone call
Share your desktop/screen with other participants
Direct message with other users in the call
Access Google Meet and your other Google services from your computer, phone, tablet, and more
Open the Meet app on your Android (Play Store) or Apple® iOS® (App Store) mobile device.

Go to Google Calendar and create an event.
Enter the meeting name/title
Enter a date and time
Invite guests
Typing in a STCC user’s name will make their account appear, and clicking on it will allow you to fill it in.
Click “Add Google Meet video conferencing”
This will automatically create the meeting for you and provide both a distributable link and a phone number that can be used to join. A PIN password will be given if needed.
On “Add Description or a Google Drive attachment”
You can add a description of your event or attach a document to provide information for your guests.
Click the Save button.
Go to Google Calendar
Click on the Event/Meeting
A new window will open
Click the " Join now button
On the bottom left, with the Microphone and Camera icons, use these to adjust your Microphone, Speaker, and webcam if present.
On the bottom middle of the screen, three vertical dots expand to view More options.
“Share Screen” button allows you to share your computer screen.
Choose either your entire screen or one of your open windows or tabs.
A circle icon with an “i” will be at the bottom bar; use this to see the meeting information.
Depending on the size of the meeting, ask attendees to mute their microphones to minimize excessive noise.
To chat with other participants, click the speech bubble labeled “Chat with everyone”.
