Messages
From Ultra Base Navigation, select Messages.
Review your course list
Unread counts are displayed as a red number; on the Messages page, the badge becomes a purple dot until you navigate away.
Courses with unread appear first.
Start a message from Courses.
Select New Message next to a course
Search for coursemates
When ready, select Send
Your professor may also send email copies of course messages.
New course messages appear on the global Messages page.
The unread counter
Shows as a purple dot while you’re viewing Messages,
Returns to a red number after you leave the page.
Sorting: Courses with unread messages stay at the top.
In a course, select Messages on the course navigation bar.
Scan the list
Unread items display a red circle next to the sender and appear first.
Each thread displays the sender's photo and indicates whether it is directed to an individual, a group, or the entire class.
Manage/view threads
Open any thread to read the entire conversation (messages are threaded).
Use View Previous Message / Next Message to move through threads.
Your own posts are labeled (You).
Select New Message
Recipients: Start typing; choose matches from the list.
Add multiple names or choose entire class.
Write clearly from the first line (there’s no title field).
Editor tools:
Select + for options; attach a file or insert media/links (if enabled by your institution).
Keyboard to toolbar
ALT+F10 (Windows) or Fn+ALT+F10 (Mac);
Use arrow keys to pick tools (e.g., bulleted list).
Send an email copy (optional)
Check the option so all recipients get an email copy. Please note, they can read it in email but can’t reply by email.
Style & attachments
Adjust text styling, attach files, and embed links/media as permitted.
