Online discussions are incredibly popular when taking hybrid or online classes. You will have regular discussions in your online courses, while discussions from an in-person class session may be carried over to an online board to keep the conversation going. Most faculty will have a community board or welcome discussion for you to practice at the beginning of the course.
There are two ways to locate your discussion: from the course menu or within weekly folders. Look for a link called "Discussions."
Click on the Discussions link on the Course Menu.
Locate the forum, and read the description question.
To read others' posts, click on the title link for each post to view.
To reply to the post you are reading, click reply.
Write your response
When done, click Submit.
To participate, click on the link title.
To create your own thread post, click on the button labeled, Create Thread, on the upper left of the screen.
When a new window opens,
Enter a title
Enter your response
Please read the instructions carefully, look for any necessary attachments to download, and note the due date displayed at the top of the screen.
When done, click Submit.
Click on the title of the discussion forum.
Click on the Grading Information button above the discussion forum.
Look to the right side of the page to review discussion grades and feedback
If your faculty has a rubric for the discussion, select Rubric button to view
If available, you can subscribe to individual forums to get email notifications for updates to the discussion to your @student.stcc.edu account
From the Course Menu, Discussions.
On the discussion board page, click on the discussion forum title.
Above the discussion, you will see a click Subscribe button. If you already subscribed, you will see Unsubscribe
Select Subscribe to receive email notifications
Select Unsubscribe to stop getting notifications
When you subscribe and unsubscribe you will receive , a message confirmation on the screen
