Office Productivity Apps for Faculty, Staff and Students include: Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and MS 365 Apps for Enterprise.

MS 365 Apps are provided to all currently enrolled students as well as employees.

Microsoft Excel

Excel is a spreadsheet program, within this session users will have a general understanding of Microsoft Excel. Exploring the Backstage View (File menu). Learn how to format and edit data in cells, working with columns and rows, printing functions and workbook views, as well as configuring page setup.  

Microsoft OneNote

A hidden gem within the MS Office Suite. OneNote allows users to collect, organize and share information in a non-traditional document format. Clip a screenshot, send a web page or an entire document to a notebook section with the improved Send to OneNote tool. Embed an Excel spreadsheet or a Visio diagram and update the data or drawing from OneNote. Insert an online picture directly from Flickr and other online service without saving the picture to your computer first. Integration with Outlook and Excel Spreadsheets.

Microsoft Outlook

Outlook is the email application used by faculty and staff.  Outlook allows you to send and receive email messages, manage your calendar, store names and numbers of your contacts, and track your tasks. 

Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint is a software program developed to produce effective presentations. It is a part of Microsoft Office suite. Users can create anything from basic slide shows to complex presentations. PowerPoint is often used to create business presentations, but can also be used for educational or informal purposes. 

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is a word processor. That's an application you use to “process”— format, manipulate, save, print, share — a text-based document.  

Microsoft Whiteboard

Microsoft Whiteboard is a collaborative digital whiteboard app that integrates seamlessly with the suite of Office tools.  The app provides a flexible and creative  canvas for uses to brainstorm, plan, and collaborate in real time.

Microsoft 365 Apps

For Faculty:  As part of our Microsoft Campus Agreement, St. John Fisher University employees are eligible to download and install Microsoft 365 ProPlus on their home computers. To download Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus for free.  More details on the OIT Knowledge Base. 

For Students: SJF provides Microsoft 365 for currently enrolled students. Microsoft 365 is a cloud-based office productivity suite that includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access (for PC), and Outlook.  More details on the OIT Knowledge Base.

Mastering 365: Editor, Designer, and Analyze Data

Microsoft Copilot 

Copilot is part of our enterprise solution package with Microsoft. Copilot is powered by the OpenAI large language model GPT 4. Depending on your desired outcome, you can choose from a creative, precise, or balanced conversation style and you can use Copilot to create images for you via its connection with Dall-E 3 from OpenAI. 

You can access Copilot from any major web browser, including Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge. Go to https://copilot.microsoft.com/ to begin using this tool. You must be logged in with your Fisher account in order to ensure the data you enter into Copilot is protected under our Fisher licensing. This means the data is not used outside our organization to train the large language model overall. Therefore, it is safe to enter personal or University data, as long as you are logged in when using Copilot. To make sure you are logged in, verify you see your name and the protected indicator in the upper right corner. Need help logging in?
