Respondus is a tool directly integrated within our learning management system, Brightspace. You may use Respondus LockDown Browser and/or Respondus Monitor to provide additional test security over any Brightspace test.
How To Access Respondus:
Respondus LockDown Browser & Respondus Monitor can be added to any Brightspace Quiz by clicking the LockDown Browser tab after making the quiz
LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Brightspace. When students use LockDown Browser to take a Brightspace Quiz, they are unable to print, copy, go to other websites, access other applications, or edit the quiz until it is submitted.
Respondus Monitor is a companion tool that may be used in addition to LockDown Browser during online remote exams. Instructors can have the tool record a student via webcam, microphone, and screen share. Students will be required to have a webcam or use their iPad. After the exam is complete, an instructor can review details of the assessment, including the recorded videos.
In Brightspace, click Other Course Tools, then Quizzes.
Set up your quiz as normal and Save.
Click the LockDown Browser tab to access the LockDown Browser Dashboard.
Next to the name of the quiz, click the down arrow, then click Settings.
Configure settings. For more details, review the documentation below.

Preparing an Exam for Respondus LockDown Browser & Respondus Monitor
Tutorials you can give to students can be found in the Getting Started tab of the LockDown Browser Dashboard. We recommend you also give an ungraded practice quiz with the same Respondus settings you plan to use in the graded quiz so that students can resolve any technology issues and practice before the graded quiz.
Students must download the LockDown Browser to their own devices prior to taking an exam in this way. Please use the links below to install prior to taking an exam of this kind.
