Congratulations to the WCWP Red Team for finishing second at the first annual Illinois Water Polo Summer High School Championship Tournament. Thanks also to our Blue and White guys who joined up with West Suburban and got to play in this tournament.

This is our last week of practice. THERE IS A PRACTICE CHANGE FOR TONIGHT: ALL GROUPS WILL PRACTICE 6:30-8:30pm. There will not be a 6-8pm practice or a 7:30-9:30pm practice. ALL PLAYERS WILL PRACTICE 6:30-8:30pm at Fenwick. Tuesday will be the normal 6-8pm for all players. On Wednesday, there are games: Wednesday, July 20 @ Fenwick HS Boys RED 6:30pm vs. Team Chicago & 8:00pm vs. Barrington. Team t-shirts are available for $10. Last year's red WCWP shirt is also available for $12. See the coaches if you want to buy a team t-shirt.

Moving forward, Windy City will be planning summer water polo trips throughout the spring school year. If you are interested in these trips, you need to let the coaches know during the early planning stages. Windy City's high school boys were able to go to Puerto Rico for five nights for $800 due to advanced planning. Airfare spiked to over $500 shortly after our club booked the PR flights! In the weeks leading up to the tournament, hotel rooms went up close to $100 a night! This is why it is so important to be planning in the spring and finalizing everything by late May and early June. Windy City is hoping to go back to Puerto Rico again next summer but would also like to see WCWP boys playing in possibly, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and California. So if you want to travel next summer, talk with your friends, get them on board, and be at the summer registration meeting for the 2017 summer season which will be Sunday, April 30, 2017.

In addition, Windy City will be offering water polo in the fall for participants who played with the club this past summer. There will be league games similar to this past summer, but league games will fall on the weekends only. Typically, WCWP hosts one weekend at Fenwick and plays the rest away. Games are usually either Saturday or Sunday but not usually both days on the same weekend.

If interested in traveling this fall, WCWP has been invited to participate in the 6th Annual Grier Laughlin Invitational hosted by Colorado Water Polo on November 11-13 in Thornton, Colorado. November 11th is a holiday, so players probably would not need to miss any school. Windy City's age groupers (14U and 12U) have attended this tournament in the past and had a great time playing the Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada teams. This is something that if there were interest, the club would try to have the entire thing planned in early September. They are offering age groups of 18&Under and 16&Under (possibly 15&Under).
