Age Group News 10/19

Thank you to the parents who were able to help: Alyssa’s dad, Michael’s Mom, Diego’s mom, Sadie’s mom, and Finn’s mom. With our expert volunteer staff manning the scorer’s table, the games ran smoothly and on time! We are hosting one last time on Saturday, November 7 @ Fenwick. Unfortunately, our team did not make the top 4 due to the forfeits a few weeks ago at Wheeling, so we will have that weekend off, but we’d be happy to have a volunteer or two to help with admissions and the scorer’s table. Thanks in advance.

Great job to all players this weekend, especially in our final game vs. LAW.

Practice this week is Monday and Wednesday 6-7:30pm. Next week, we will practice on Monday and Tuesday due to a diving competition taking place on Wednesday.

There are no games this weekend. Enjoy the weekend off.

Our final 12&Under games will be on Saturday, October 31 at Lyons. Our game schedule will be 3:00pm and then 3:50pm if we lose or 4:40pm if we win. Coach Kyle will supply enough candy to likely make everyone sick! If we win, we will trick or treat as a team in the neighborhood surrounding Lyons Township South’s campus after our 3pm game and before our our 4:30pm. Feel free to wear your costumes (parents too!) to the games!

Our final 14&Under games will be on Sunday, November 1 at Lyons. The final schedule will not be out until next week as there are other teams playing games this weekend. As soon as a schedule is finalized, I will send it out.

How well do you know the coaching staff?

Coach Elizabeth Timmons is an age group water polo national champion (twice!). In 8th grade, she won USA Water Polo’s Junior Olympic National Championship and USA Water Polo’s Age Group National Championship. Her team is currently the only non-California team to win these two events. Coach Elizabeth Timmons then went on to become All-State swimmer and water polo player at Fenwick High School. She qualified and swam at the Illinois High School Association's State Championship swim meet her sophomore, junior, and senior years. During her senior year, she helped lead the Fenwick’s girls’ water polo team to their first IHSA water polo state championship. Fenwick has since won seven more state championships in girls’ water polo. After graduating, she headed to Santa Clara University where she participated on their Division I women’s water polo team for all four years. Following her to Santa Clara, Windy City has sent seven other water polo players to play for the Broncos. After graduating from Santa Clara with a B.S. in Environmental Science, she earned her M.A.T. in Chemistry from Dominican University. Coach Elizabeth currently teaches chemistry and coaches girls swimming and water polo at Fenwick High School along with running the summer swim lessons program at Fenwick. She helped the girls win their last water polo state championship in 2014 and won a state championship with the boys team in 2011. This past summer, she and her husband went shark diving off the coast of Mexico!
