  • High School boys are going outdoors!

Windy City Water Polo will be starting up on Monday, June 29th, 7-9am at the River Forest Country Club (15W468 Grand Ave, Elmhurst, IL 60126).  We will continue to practice on Monday mornings throughout the summer (end date still TBD).  Any interested high school boys should be signed up online at: https://sites.google.com/site/windycitywaterpolo1/home/forms .  The cost for the summer program is $100.  Accepted payment is cash, a check made out to Windy City Sports, or Chase QuickPay / Zelle to windycitywaterpolo@yahoo.com .  Coach Kyle will be running the workouts, though Coach Jimmy, Coach Ben, and Coach Elizabeth will also likely make some special guest appearances!

While scrimmaging and contact will not be allowed at this point, there's still plenty of swimming and water polo drills that we'll be able to do in the RFCC outdoor pool while maintaining a healthy and safe environment.  We have the pool for two hours, but we are limited on the number of participants in the pool, so we may run two workouts if needed.  Players should arrive in their suits, have their own water bottle, goggles, and towel.  We will not be using the locker room facilities, and we will not be changing on the pool deck; arrive in your suit and plan to leave in your suit.  Masks should be worn when you enter the pool area.

Contact Coach Kyle at kperry@fenwickfriars.com if you have questions.

  • Spring Season Canceled & WP "meet up" scheduled for 5/12
While we had been hoping to salvage at least part of the spring season, that will not be possible.  We will begin working on refunds for the largely cancelled spring season for everyone that paid.  Please know that this will likely be a slow going process.

Summer water polo may be a possibility LATE this summer.  We have typically started in late May and run our program through late July.  Depending on the state of this crisis, we are hoping to provide some water polo in July and August if the current situation improves and we feel that we can provide water polo in a healthy and safe environment.  This may or may not coincide with our fall age group season which typically runs late August through early November.  At this time, like seemingly all things, everything is up in the air.

Lastly, Coach Elizabeth Timmons and I will be running a zoom meeting next week on Tuesday, May 12 at 4pm.  We don't have much planned, but we know that some of our water polo players haven't seen each other in a while and we are happy to facilitate this "meet up."  We are also hoping to have Coach Elyssa on the call.  She moved to California and is coaching out there but says she misses her Windy City players!

    Zoom information is as follows:
    Topic: Windy City Water Polo
Time: May 12, 2020 04:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)
    Join Zoom Meeting: https://zoom.us/j/92624358373?pwd=bmJiVVZmeDduM3AvWlZBZ0JvR21mUT09
    Meeting ID: 926 2435 8373
    Password: 8giZbv

We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!  We also hope to see you in the pool again soon!

  • Spring Season Update
With all of Illinois under the stay-at-home order, our spring season will look to resume in May.  As the situation continues to change, we'll continue to provide updates.  If we are unable to practice this spring, we will refund our spring participants, but we also hope you will be able to join us this summer.

  • Spring Season postponed
With the closing of Fenwick High School, our home pool, and Oak Park currently under a shelter-in-place order, all Windy City Water Polo activities have been postponed through at least April 3.  14&Under, 12&Under, 10&Under, and senior men practices will hopefully return in early April.  As we find out more information, we will continue to post updates.

    Please stay safe and healthy!

  • AGE GROUP WATER POLO 2020 SPRING SEASON
Windy City Water Polo will be offering a water polo spring season in 2020.  We will be teaching the fundamental skills of water polo.  It is for boys and girls age 6-14, who are not yet in high school, and will be held at Fenwick High School in Oak Park.  It will run from March 4 through May 6.  Practices will be held in the evenings on Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:30pm and Sundays 11:30am-1pm) at the Fenwick H.S. pool.  Cost for the clinic is $175.00 for 14&Under and 12&Under players and $100 for 10&Under players; acceptable payments are cash, a check made payable to Windy City Sports, or payment via Chase QuickPay or Zelle to windycitywaterpolo@yahoo.com.  Please mail checks to Kyle Perry at Fenwick High School, 505 Washington Blvd. Oak Park, Il. 60302 or bring your payment with you on the first day, March 4.

The clinic is open to any girl or boy in grades 1 through 8.  The purpose of the clinic is to teach the youngsters how to pass, catch, dribble and shoot a water polo ball.  We will also be teaching the basic play of the game.  We will try to have some scrimmages in house or with other teams as well.  These can really help provide an introduction to the exciting game of WATER POLO!  Returning players will continue to sharpen their skills during our spring clinic.
For the 6-10 year old beginning level participants we will offer H2O Ball.  It is a fun way to introduce youngsters to the sport of water polo.

  • Age Group News 11/4/19
Great job to our 12&Under team this past weekend!

While all the games are completed, we still have two more practices this week for EVERYONE.

We will practice Monday and Wednesday in the pool 6-7pm.  We will try to make a few Christmas ornaments for our Christmas tree from 7-7:30pm.  Why are we decorating a Christmas tree in early November?  We will once again be decorating a tree for the Brookfield Zoo!  All players are encouraged to join us after getting dressed to create a few Christmas ornaments for our 2019 Christmas tree.  You can see some pictures from this year's tree tree at: https://www.facebook.com/pg/windycitywaterpolo/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2202096860048930  On Sunday, November 24, we will go to the zoo to hang our ornaments.  We will meet at 10am at the north parking lot entrance, enter the zoo together, decorate our tree, explore the zoo, probably eat lunch, and then have everyone picked up about 1pm.  We have 20 free tickets and 5 free parking passes.  See one of the coaches at practice tonight or Wednesday if you want tickets or the parking pass.  Tickets can be used for kids or adults, but we are only giving tickets to adults to handle so that they will, hopefully, be less likely to be lost.  If you do not get a free ticket from us, you can still join us but will have to pay the zoo's regular rate.  In the past, we have had lunch at the zoo, so please give your kids some lunch money.

Colorado group will meet on Friday at 3:30pm outside the Southwest Ticket Counter at Midway Airport.  We'll go through security together.  Looks like this is going to be a great trip!  Expect an email or two about this as we get closer to Friday!

Saturday, November 30, Illinois Water Polo and the Chicago Wolves have teamed up and are doing an Aquatics night at the Chicago Wolves game.  In addition to a ticket for the game, athletes will receive a free Chicago Wolves hockey themed swim cap and a free Wolves winter hat.  Tickets cost $25.  If interested, please contact Elizabeth Timmons at etimmons@fenwickfriars.com and let her know how many tickets you want.  We'll do a group order so that we can all be sitting in the same section!  Deadline for our group order is Monday, November 25th at 7pm.  If you have questions, just let us know.

    What's next for Windy City?
Sunday Scrimmages at Fenwick in December 4:30-6:00pm.
Sunday Scrimmages at Fenwick in January and February 11:30-1pm.

Spring Season at Fenwick in March, April, and early May.  10&Unders: Tuesdays 7:15-8:00pm and Sundays 11:30-12:30pm.  12&Under and 14&Under: Tuesdays 7:15-8:30pm and Sundays 11:30-1pm.

Summer Season at Fenwick in late May, June and July. 10&Unders Monday and Wednesday 6-7pm. 12&Under and 14&Unders Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 6-7:30pm.
