Guide Number
Each flash gun has a guide number for calculating correct exposure and can be
calculated as follows,
Guide number = flash to subject distance in meters x f number for correct exposure
at iso 100
Professional Day time photographs using a flash
For shade or bright conditions.
1. Set camera to correct exposure i.e f/8 at 1/125 seconds
2. Dial in -1 on the exposure compensation dial.
3. Pop up or turn on flash.
4. Take photo.
5. Check result on display.
Note : Not for indoor shots, in poorly lit area's i.e. church.
Notes on Lighting
1. Start with one light on your subject.
2. Think of your scene as being illuminated by two light sources,
one main light source and one secondary light source (fill light).
3. Light has to come from some where so make it source as
natural as possible i.e. from the direction of a window, above
like a ceiling light or light spill from a door etc.
