The darkness fades

The stars disappear

The sun comes up

And the land reappears

As I stand on the shore

Looking out once more

The sea cycles in

And the gulls soar

The sky is clear

The air is cold

I make an offering

Some silver or gold

The sun has risen

The light paints the stones

The sea glistens

And the waves foam

To stop and look

To see and feel

This world is beautiful

This world is real

With my hand on my chest

I feel my heart beat

That beat is real

That beat is me
