Large car park. Inclusive pub snacks after at Dinas Castle Inn.
The  fantastic original route.

This is a classic horseshoe route suitable for runners of all abilities (in good visibility).  It's all on defined paths much of which are 'improved'. The turn let and down west from the cairn from the top path near Pen Y Manllwyn is really only the non-obvious (and so relatively easy to miss) direction change) - but this will be marshalled so you won't go wrong.. This turn, at an obvious and large cairn, leads you on to the well known 'dragons back'.  3 amrshals on the route at obvious turns.
See the colour chart at the bottom of the page for more information about what to expect

Race Route

A track down from the pub and then short section of road leads to the track and path leading up over Rhiw Trumau to the Col at 617. Then comes a short steep section up to Pen Trumau and after, the broad ridge up to Waun Fach - a new gravel path has been made to (and at) the top. The old concrete top marker has been removed. Heading north west the route is initially on an improved gravel path then continues on the former grassy/boggy eroded path, all the way to Pen Y Manllwyn. At the first major cairn the route then descends west and down the Dragons Back (Y Grib). A few undulations then take you to the sting in the tail - the final pull up to the old fort.
