The Hatterrall Flow Test has returned this year with a new route, due to the unfortunate demise of the Old Pandy Inn. Race starts at the usual place at 1.00pm and will follow the most direct route you dare (via the field stile) to the trig point / CP2. The start is in a private field and the route will be marked to a stile – from there on you need to find your way to all the checkpoints in order. The course turns around at the trig and you make your way down, via the CP3 and 4. The finish is in a different place to the start and a lot nearer the village hall HQ. The start is about 1.5Miles from the village hall - Please give yourself time to get to the start. I will do a 'bag drop' in the back of my van, that will be at the finish.
As the race is part of the SW winter series, there will 'light' markings with flags. These aren’t necessarily the best option, but the option that I happened to mark out on the morning of the race - They will be the nice trodden paths. If you follow them, they will get you to the checkpoints. You don’t need to follow the flags, but you must go to the checkpoints! A recce is always worthwhile - A lot of time can be gained (or lost) by cutting a few corners on the route..
The new finish section unfortunately has more tarmac on small country lanes - Sorry!
WARNING - There is a busy railway crossing about 200Metres before the finish. The trains are frequent and fast! There will be a marshal on the gate, that you must obey! Polite runners will keep to the order you arrive at the crossing to the finish..
The route is fairly straightforward, if weather is good.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? The Hammer and Sledge routes are both having a rest this year, but may return (if the pub reopens!).
