**Race day information**

Cwm nant-y-groes fell race - Hope your all well. Heads up before the 28th. Car parking is only in the overflow car park at the end of the road as you drive past the football ground keep going and it's on your right hand side.

Please car share where possible, if the car park is full please DO NOT park by people's houses or driveways. Try and park with consideration for the locals and also do not block access to the allotments.

Race day is fast approaching set out below is all relevant Information about the Race, Kit requirements and expectations of you the competitors.

This is a category AS fell race.

5.6 miles in distance and around 1800ft of elevation gain.

Start time is 12 noon. Registration is open 10am to collect your race dibber.

ENTRY ON THE DAY

The football club house is open for this only so no congregating in doors. Once you have your dibber, map please move back outside.

The route is a mixture of terrain from hard Rock trods to boggy Heather, and bracken.

As in 2020 the start will be In the field at the bottom of the climb up cwm nant-y-groes, you will follow the track directly upto the style, from here you are on the open mountain and are free to choose your route up to cp1 trig point/down to cp2 Abersychan brook and up to cp3 crossroads (providing you visit all marshal points in order).

From cp3 crossroads you will be guided Right to complete a MANDATORY anticlockwise loop of the old targets area, this will be fully marked with red flags, 

Continue on the loop following the red marker flags back to the cp3 crossroads marshal.

From here you will return the same way you came out back down the valley to the marshal in the brook, back up the hill to the marshal at the trig point, before your final descent down to the finish.


(Hazards)

Sink holes/voids, being on old mining ground the mountains in the valleys have many of the holes in the ground some of which are hidden in the Heather bracken, please keep your eyes open.

Note this Race is set on some harsh moorland and being a winter race the weather on the day most like will be challenging. As a result there will be a full kit requirement in place which includes the following:

Full water proof body cover:

Full taped seems waterproof Jacket,

Full taped seems waterproof over trousers

Hat, Gloves, whistle

Compass (and know how-to use it) Black and white copy of the route map will be supplied at registration. Its recommended to bring your own area map.

Emergency food is also recommended.

There will be kit checks done on the day, no kit no run you will be asked to leave and won't be able to run.

On that note if for some reason you are missing/or forgot something please do come and see me before the start and I will help if I can.

(There is no first aid persons at the event, but there will be a full first aid kit at the Start/Finish area). If you get in trouble out on course please make sure you let a fellow competitor/marshal know your location/issue. If for some reason you retire you MUST return to the finish area and let the team know your name, do not just go home.

Please note, you as a competitor are responsible for your own safety on the day. And confirm you have the nessary skills to safety navigate around the course of this type of terrain.
