Race Route - changed in 2022

The start is a bit of a walk from the Skirrid Inn. Take care crossing the main road!

The start is in the western field with a large barn and significant solitary oak tree in it. A loop around the field and runners are off straight towards the Skirrid, across the fields, via several (open) galvanised “ramblers” gates. The Skirrid cone looms above. A 1.5K continual climb through fields, painfully runnable for many, brings competitors to the start of the open fellside, via a road crossing, and some relief as the route now flattens off. Shortly, a path off right goes diagonally up the mountain’s flank to end abruptly on the ridge. The course then heads right up to the summit. From the summit it descends  straight down the north west ridge. A mad dash through the fields and the finish awaits.

Please note that the route marked between A and A is on private land and should be respected for those recce-ing the course.
