We purchased a Rice Steamer and have found a lot of recipes we now love either along with our white or brown rice, or together such as this Jambalaya.
Here's what I use:
1lb. cooked chicken, cut up either cubed or shredded
1lb. Spicy Smoked Sausage such as Andouille
2 cups cubed quality ham (We love black forest ham from the deli)
1 1/2 cups long grain White Rice
4 Cups Chicken Broth
1 Med. Onion Diced Small
1 Tbsp Garlic powder or 2 Tbsp Fresh Minced Garlic
1 Tbsp Dried Parsley or 1/2 Tbsp Fresh chopped Parsley
2 tsp Creole Seasoning
1 tsp Dried Thyme or 1/2 tsp fresh chopped Thyme
1 tsp Dried Basil or 1/2 tsp Freshed Chopped Basil
1/2 tsp Crushed Black Pepper
Here's what I do:
Cut Smoked Sausage in half, then into 1/4" half circles. Add all ingredients into Rice Cooker and cooks using 'White Rice' settings.
