In a skillet, brown chicken in cooling oil. Remove chicken and cook onions. When onions are nearly soften, add garlic and cook but do not brown., Return Chicken to Skillet and rest of ingredients. Cook and simmer 30 minutes covered. Rotate chicken and cooked uncovered for 15 minutes longer (ensure doneness of chicken but not over cooked). Turn chicken occasionally. Remove bay leaves, skim off excess fat. Server Chicken with sauce ladle over it.
