On Wednesday the 5th, we were able to spend an afternoon and evening with Lyn, a friend I've known since Girl Scout Camp, at her home in Meadow Vista in the foothills of the Sierra. We were amazed at the spectacular Fall show surrounding her home (photos on Photo Gallery page). Fall Foliage California-style.
OUR FIRST ADVENTURE: We had planned to stay at Donner Lake Lodge that night, but when we got there at 8pm, the lobby was dark and there was no one there! We thought we were in the wrong spot, but after checking 3 different GPS devices, we realized we weren't. Turns out there is no one in reception after 4pm, so they email you a code to get into the building and another to get into your room. Only they didn't email us anything. I finally called and spoke to someone who gave us the codes but didn't know the buildings enough to tell us where our room was! We got lucky and found our room, which was very nice, but it was truly a bizarre experience. Moral of the story: If you are arriving late, call ahead to make sure you can get in!
