Email From Tennessee Section Manager Field Day 2013

Post date: Jun 21, 2013 2:38:2 AM

Good Thursday Morning to All, I wanted to let everyone know what the Field Day Plans for the Section Manager are for this year. I will be going to East Tennessee this year and do the same type of trip I did last year in middle Tennessee. I feel it is very important to try to see as many clubs as possible to listen to your interests, concerns and even complaints. Last year, I visited four clubs and a home station set up in the side yard. This year, the plan is a little more wide spread but it is “doable”. I will be leaving home Friday to go to Athens TN and meet with the McMinn County ARC there for FD setup and dinner. I will be helping them start their setup and talking with the membership. Saturday Morning, I will get up and go to Oak Ridge to meet with the Anderson County Oak Ridge ARC, at the Oak Ridge Red Cross Center, to help them with Saturday Morning setup for FD and meet with and talk to their membership. Then I will move over to Knoxville to Ft. Dickerson Park to meet with the Radio Amateur Club of Knoxville (RACK) and Middle Eastern Tennessee Emergency Radio Service (METERS) to help start Field Day operations. From there I will move East of Knoxville to Jefferson County/Jefferson City to the Jefferson County ARC at the Boys and Girls Club of Dimple Valley for late afternoon activities before going to my last event for Saturday at Panther Creek State Park with the Lakeway ARC of Morristown for Saturday evening. I will leave there and spend the night in Kingsport before going to Bristol Tennessee Sunday to meet with the Bristol ARC and wind up FD in upper East TN. If possible, I may even try to meet with the club in Johnson City as well. I don't know how that will work out but I am working on it. As you can see, the weekend will be full. Messages to the SM/SEC can be sent via Winlink over HF for all who have that capability. I am also working to possibly set up a schedule for SM message traffic through the 3980 net Saturday Evening. I am not completely sure how to time my travel around the times but will do my best to try and accommodate the Sections needs as best I can. I hope that everyone has a great Field Day experience. Make sure to take lots of pictures and work to get them into local media as much as possible. I would like to hear from you after Field Day with your acticles, pictures, webpage links and tales of success.
