Jeudi 26 Février : visite de la cité des Télécoms à Pleumeur-Bodou.

L'exposition "illusions d'optique" :

Mission to Mars :

Planétarium : curiosity's mission :

On the 26th of February 2015, we went to Pleumeur-Bodou. During this visit, we saw several things, but the first one was about optical illusions.

First, we went to a conference room. In this place, we attended a lecture which showed us the different types of optical illusions. During the lecture, we also participated in some experiments. For instance, we focused our eyes on the Canadian maple leaf flag, in blue color. After a few seconds, the lecturer swapped the displayed picture to show the Canadian flag, without the maple leaf. However, having focused on it before, the maple leaf printed on our retina and appeared in the middle of the incomplete Canadian flag, which consequently seemed authentic for us.

During the robotic activity, we learnt how to control robot through our program. It was quite easy for us because we had already made a harder program at school. The goal of the program was to control a robot on asteroid to take away the ore. With this program, the robot was able to detect obstacles of different colors thanks to a couple of sensors. The distance between the robot and the obstacle is taken into account thanks to a distance sensor which enables it to avoid the obstacle and to go on its way, either on the left or on the right, depending on the program. We were the first group to experiment this project. It was a pretty good experience for us and for the telecom's city of Pleumeur Bodou who is trying to upgrade this new activity.

Le Radôme :

In the planetarium, a man intoduced us to the story of the Mars planete observation.

First of all, we saw several drawings of the story, it's a very approximate drawing which is carried out thanks to their telescop which is less performing than the ones which are built today. They have created an imaginary Marsian building because they think they had actually seen canals.

After this presentation, we attended another lecture about the different satellites sent on and around Mars over time. Afer many failures from USSR trying to launch satellites, Americans started and finally managed to launch one, the first successful launching of all time happened on November 28, 1964 .

To complete the vist, we saw a magnificent panorama of Mars. We really enjoyed this day out as the lectures were quite interesting and enabled the whole group to discover new things...
