"In 2002, the compound 1,4-dioxane was discovered in wells in the Tucson Airport Remediation Project (TARP) area. Since then, 1,4-dioxane has been detected throughout the TARP area, in some cases exceeding the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) drinking water advisory level of 3 µg/L."
Tucson Water breaks ground on new treatment plant
"In January 2011, the EPA issued a new health advisory for 1,4-dioxane of 0.35 parts per billion. That's lower than the previous advisory of 3.0 parts per billion.
With this new, lower advisory level, Tucson Water began planning and designing a new treatment facility that uses state-of-the-art technology to effectively remove 1,4-dioxane from water."

DHEC Reveals Cannons Campground Well Results
"DHEC also said five wells further from the plant tested positive for very low levels of the chemical 1,4-dioxane. The chemical is a byproduct of the polyester manufacturing process and shows up in groundwater beneath the plant. But DHEC says it is not sure if the dioxane in the wells came from the plant."

"Concentrations measured in Murphy Creek range from non-detect up to 79 ug/L within the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site (DADS) property north of the Lowry Landfill, and range from non-detect up to 10 ug/L north of the DADS property. Colorado does not have a 1,4-dioxane standard for surface water."
