- Students will analyze the properties of a commonly used chemical substance and how the substance affects the environment. (B1.1)
- Students will propose ways to lesson the harmfulness of the substance or identify alternatives. (B1.1)
- Students will evaluate the risks and benefits to human health of commonly used chemical substances (B1.2)
- Hook: To introduce students to the field of Green Chemistry, the following video from the United States Environmental Protection Agency can be shown:

- Content: Students will be given a culminating task that will incorporate the topics of the Matter, Chemical Trends & Chemical Bonding unit as well as the STSE components.
