1. Matter, Chemical Trends, and Chemical Bonding

This section of the website is meant to be a resource for the Matter, Chemical Trends and Chemical Bonding unit of the Grade 11 University Preparation Chemistry Course.

In this unit students will be able to analyze properties of common chemical substances and their effects on the environment and human health. They will also propose and develop action plans to lessen their impact. Students will investigate various physical and chemical properties of elements and compounds, and use different methods to represent them. Lastly, students will demonstrate an understanding of the nature of atoms, the periodic table, periodic trends, how elements combine to form chemical bonds and the difference between ionic and molecular compounds.
