  • Hook: PhET simulation – Gas properties. With this simulation, students are invited to toggle with all the variables in order to notice the patterns that were learned through all gas laws including the one being taught today. For example, when increasing the temperature, the pressure will also increase as well as the volume decreasing.

  • Action: Students will answer questions based on The Combined Gas Law on the board. This provides students with proper practice before moving on to their homework. The first example can be done as a class, the second can be done by a student volunteer and the third will be done individually and the method and answer will be taken up. This follows the gradual release method.
  • Debrief: The class will create a list of all the gas laws learned so far outlining the relationships between each of the variables. The list will be reviewed by students coming up on writing each of the laws on the board. This will act as a review for the quiz the following day.
