The Continental Congress was a group of delegates of the different 13 colonies. The first Continental Congress was from September 5 through October 26, 1774. The delegates met in Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia. In this first meeting they discus about the issue about how they were being treated by the British. So, they sent a letter to King George III saying that they were not agreeing with the treatment that the British had with the Americans. They demanded the King that they stop the intolerable acts if not they were going to prevent British goods. The King ignored the letter, and the Americans began the prevention. If the British still didn't want to do what the Congress had said, the Congress was planning to meat again in May 1775.
The Second Congress began in May 10,1775 until March 1781. As soon as this started, the Revolutionary War started too. So, the delegates had to build up an army to fight against the British. The purpose of this Congress was to fight the British. So what they did was that they, the 13 colonies, acted like a government. They printed their own money, they sent ambassadors to foreign countries, and building up the army. To make the long story short, on July 4, the Congress signed the Declaration of Independence and this is how USA got free and independent.
This was the first Continental Congress held in Philadelphia. On the right, there is a man that has a paper on its hands. This paper, was probably the letter that the Congress sent to King George III. Here, I think what they were doing is discussing what were they going to put. For me, I see some people frustrated. They are frustrated because they don't want to be treated like the British is treating them. That is why this is the first Continental Congress.
This second picture is showing the second Continental Congress. All the other people are listening to the man that is on the right with the paper in hand. I think that is the Declaration of Independence. The other persons are paying attention to what is written in the Declaration. This was the most important Congress because this is were America started to get its freedom, its independence. That's what I think and what makes sense to me because of what the picture shows.
This video shows the first Continental Congress. This is a good example of this meeting because this video shows how the leaders from each team is involved in the letter that they sent to King George III. Also, they start to say that they wrote, like you see what they talk and what point they want to make. I personally like this video because it's like the meeting today. It's like turning everything alive today. It's really good, I liked it!
