Lord Cornwallis was a British general, he fought against the Americans. He participated in the Battle of Yorktown, he was the one representing the British.Let me start by giving you a brief summary about the Battle of Yorktown and the participation of Cornwallis. So, Cornwallis was going with his troops to New York, to continue fighting. The British was surrounded by the Americans and the French. So, for eleven days, Cornwallis tried to fight against the Americans and the French. Later on, Cornwallis sent the white flag that meant that he surrendered as well as his army. Before that, he sent a lot of demands to Washington but he didn't accept. So, the Americans were prepared to attack again but Cornwallis surrendered. On October 19,1781 Cornwallis sent signed the British surrender.
This man in the picture is Lord Cornwallis as you may not know. He has a little bit of belly and he is dressed in red, the British uniform.Compared to Von Steuben, Cornwallis was not as well as Steuben. I;m saying this because Steuben, had medals in his uniform but Cornwallis only has one on the right side.I think that he did good in surrendering before Washington because if the battle would continue I think he would lose a lot of men and probably will not accomplish this battle.
In the middle of the picture are the British. On the left the French and on the right the Americans. What is happening in this picture is that the British are surrendering. Like I said before, the British are surrendering to the French and the Americans. If you have a chance to look closer, you would see some smiles in some French solider's faces. This picture says it all... How you can identify which army is witch. It is so easy, that's why I chose this picture.
I chose this video because you can understand really well what is happening with Cornwallis. It gives the summary of the battle but it also tells you about Cornwallis. He was one of the main characters on the battle. The video shows pictures for you to understand better.
