Benedict Arnold was an American General. He was the captain of the Connecticut's militia. He attacked the Fort Ticonderoga, and the Americans won. This was his first victory. Then he joined the Continental Army that was lead by George Washington. He wanted to go out form the army, but Washington didn't let him because he considered Arnold, one of the best generals. That is why, later on, Washington gives him the position as Major General.
In the Battle of Saratoga, he lead the army up to the British. When he returned to Valley Forge, the other soldiers welcomed him as a hero because he had wounded his leg fighting and also because he make the British surrender. Arnold had enemies because of the Continental Army. People said that he was doing that ONLY because of the money. Later on, Arnold became a spy for the British. He told the British the location of American's supplies depot, troop movements, as well as the number of troops. He became a general for the British, and he started to fight against the Americans.
This man is Benedict Arnold. I don't know if you see the same things as me, but I'm going to tell you what I see. I see something mysteriously in this man. This man looks like he has something to hide, like a bad man. If I ere to see him in real life I would be really scared because ugh, his face! I don't know you, but to me, this man looks like a really bad person. (Actually, he was a really bad person because he betrayed the Americans by going into the British army; how dare he!)
This picture is about a cover of a book written by Jean Fritz. As you see in the cover, in the bottom you see the American flag, on the left the British flag, and on the right a non real person burning. In the middle, I think that man Benedict( I'm pretty sure). If you look at Benedict's face...... you will see it its scary(as the picture before). If I were George Washington in those times, I would not let Benedict be in my army, just because of his face. With that face, I know he is planing to do something, and that something is not really nice. I chose this picture because you could see how scary is Benedict and how he played a role in both British as American army.
I chose this video because I think is a fun way to learn about what happened with Benedict Arnold.Also, the words that they use are easy to understand, so is better for you to memorize things. Some parts may be modern but if you know the real story(I told you in the upper part of the page) you would understand what they are talking about. This video uses kids to represent some characters or to add more characters to the story, but they are like "narrators".
