The Battle of Bunker Hill began on June 17, 1775. Boston was occupied by the militia. The British troop wanted to take over the Bunker Hill and Breeds Hill because they wanted to get more tactical advantage. The British were lead by Major John Pitcairn and General William Howe. The Americans were lead by Colonel William Prescott. So, the Americans found out, about the British's idea.Over night, the militia moved to the hills and they started to build forts. The next day, the British came, and they started attacking. They were going to fight three times in the same war.
The first time, the Americnas fired first. The second time, the British attacked. The Americans were running low in amunnition and the British were going up the hill to fight for the third time. When the Americans got to the hill, the had no aminnition. Because of this the Americans were force to leave, and the British stayed with the lands. But by the end of the battle, there were more than 200 British men killed and more than 800 men wounded. In comparison with the Americans, 100 Americans died and 300 were wounded. Clearly, the Americans had more fighting tactics than the British.
This picture is a good example of the Bunker Hill battle because it shows clearly the setting and what is happening. On the back of the picture, you can see some hills. In those hills, are the British comming down to fight. In the front part of the pictures, you see the Americnas fighting with the British. In this picture, you can easily identify the British, they are the "Red Coats". The other people that doesn't have red clothes, are clearly the Americans. There are more British than the Americans. Probably, that is one factor why the Americans lost the battle but we sure know that the Americans lost because they had no aminnition.
This second picture has a leader in the front and after the leader comes the other part of the troops. The leader is form a British troop, it could be General William Howe or Major John Pitcairn. The British is going up the hill because they're are going to fight with the Americans. In my opinion I really like this picture, because if you see closley, the leader has his arm like up and he is like giving a signal to others. He is saying like to stop, like wait for him to give another signal, so they could keep going. Also, you may know that the picture has a lot of details, like the one I told you before. That's why I like this picture.
This video is about the Battle of Bunker Hill, as the title says. This wasn't a real life video, it wasn't made with real perons. It is made by a computer and the characters are made in computer too. Personally, I really like this video because it is realistic. When the British are fireing the canons you see that the characters cover their ears, and how they move the flag. It is really interesting how they tried to make things as it happened. This video is also easy to identify what is happening. You can see clearly who the British are and who are the Americans, even though it is made with a computer. Hope you enjoy!
