It started at midnight on September 21,1777. George Washington had told General Anthony Wayne's to follow the British and harass them and also, and to capture their baggage train. Antony didn't found out that the British knew that he was following them. So, later on, he made a surprise attack and killed 1,200 men. The British forced a Blacksmith to guide and launch a surprise attack on Wayne's camp. With extremely light, they caused four deaths and seven wounded. Seventy-one prisoners were taken. But, there was a rumor that said that the British had burned or stabbed Americans who surrender. So that is why they call it "The Paoli Massacre". But, historians says that those accusations were wrong because it was proved that those men were taken as prisoners.
This picture is showing the British stabbing and burning the Americans. They are all like int he same place killing the Americans. Historians say that this didn't happen because they were taking as prisoners.
This other picture shows how the British is stabbing the Americans. But as the Historians say, that is not real, because the Americans that survived were taken as prisoners.
