Battle of Saratoga

Saratoga is composed by more than one battle. In this time, the main leader for the British was General John Burgoyne or " Gentlemen Johnny". The Americans were lead by Major General Horiato Gates, General Benedict Arnold and Benjamin Lincoln. On September 19,1777, Gentlemen Johnny achieved a small victory over the Americans lead by Horatio Gates and Benedicts Arnold. This was called the Battle of Freeman's Farm.

After all of this happened, the British and the colonists went south to regroup under Horacio Gates. To support them, General George Washington sent his best commander, Benedict Arnold. On October 7,1777, Gentlemen Johnny attacked; and they got defeated by the Americans. This was called the Battle of Bemis Heights. The Americans perused the British, and days after, they surrounded the British.On October 17, 1777, the British surrendered.

This first picture, represents when the British and the Americans finished their first battle. As you see, the leaders of both armies are shackin hands. This was their first battle in the Saratoga. In this battle, the Americans lost, but in the picture, they're planning like another battle.That's what they did. They continued into another battle.
