Our goal is to be in person as soon as we can get into Irving public school. However, September will NOT yet be at Irving.
Theme this year will be "get to know your district". Will have various groups present. Today: membership, presented by April.
Membership - April is new to the membership team.
Want a New Member Coordinator with each unit. They are greeters to new people that show up. Should have fun and lots of personality.
BeAScout online registration. Indicate boy, girl, or family unit. Be sure pin is correct location. Be sure contact person is active.
Have first den meeting two weeks after the sign-up event.
Get the full family excited, even younger siblings that will join in the future.
Have a second recruitment night for those who couldn't make the first event.
Must-haves:
presence on BeAScout.org
yard signs
flyers
scout talks if we can get into the schools
stickers for a parade or event (LPS does not want)
council is geofencing ads on Facebook
Join the PTA as a representative of the Cub Scout Pack and talk to parents there
Have scouts wear uniforms on Constitution Day. Ask principle if they can do a flag ceremony on that day.
Or have them wear their uniform on any day. Kids love it. Could wear during recruitment days.
Consider nearby, outdoor parks for an event. Could work with a Troop. Consider slim, stomp rockets, pinewood derby track with old cars. Have information stations for parents.
Could have a prize for those that sign up. Could be a coupon that they turn in at the next meeting for a whistle, tie slide, etc.
Will two nights of Cub Scout Day of Awesomeness. One day for Lions and Tigers. Have a leader there to greet your new scouts.
Could take a picture without a mask and put it on a pin.
Previous video on Cub Scout recruitment. New video on council site for Scout BSA.
Hope to have access to LPS buildings in October.
Council has been pushing Family Fun Fest. August 8, geared to Cub Scouts.
August 24-27 would like each individual school to do virtual recruitment. Lee will help you set it up. Can advertise via email and postcards. These can be geared to Scouts BSA as well.
September 13-17 is Scout Spirit week.
September 15. Goal to have all LPS reservations for a coordinated recruitment event.
Every new scout gets a new fishing rod and can take it to the Hooked On Scouting event later in the year. After an application is received, will get rod from council. New Scouts BSA get a neck gator.
If you recruit 5 new recruits greater than what you recruited last year (by early November), will get free pinewood derby cars for all youth members.
A number of recruitment resources on Council's site at:

Can pick up popcorn packet on Saturday.
