If you want OA Crossover team, please sign up by contacting Bryan Welty
District Pinewood Derby. Nolan Crane from Eyewitness 8 will be celebrity judge. Emphasize district rules so that buys can qualify. No Lions participating in District Pinewood Derby. Weight is the most common problem. Will try and help if weight needs to be taken off. Registration deadline is Feb 17. Can put in blank scouts if you need to register before you know who is attending.
Cup demo. Lots of positions within a pack (each illustrated as a cup). If you carry multiple positions, those cups stack up on one person. Ideally, spread out those cups to more people. Can used this as a visual demo to communicate with your adults.
Day camp the third week of June. Main point is fun, not requirements. https://scoutingevent.com/324-15215
Cub and Webelos resident camp. Need to have correct ratio of adult leaders.
Can also do Pack camps. Optimist cabin, OEC (free if met Friends of Scouting goal), Crete youth cabin, Pawnee, Wagontrain, etc. Can use staff cabins at Camp Cornhusker (can also be discounted with Friends of Scouting). New online reservation system coming online for council facilities.
To take your pack camping or your Webelos den camping, need to have at least one adult present who is trained via BALOO/WOLT training. Teaches you to plan a program. Upcoming training at April 27-28. https://scoutingevent.com/324-18309
Be sure to enter service projects for Cub Scout Packs into the service project system. Record planning, travel, and execution time. That is multiplied by the number of participants. The gold level for JTE is 8 hours per boy per year. Log them online at https://servicehours.scouting.org. If first time, will need to call OEC to get password. Can also fill out a paper form and bring it to the council.
Service activity ideas: Bell ringing, trash cleanup, food drives, help chartered organization, flag ceremonies for other groups, adopt a school. Share your hours with your blue and gold. Can put monetary value on volunteer hours. https://www.independentsector.org/resource/the-value-of-volunteer-time/. Be careful if you are doing something for monetary return (not volunteer and should fill out paperwork with council). OK if someone donates money to unit after the fact. Note, are not supposed to wear your uniform if you are helping someone else raise money (i.e. Salvation Army bell ringing). Adopt a school is at https://adoptaschool.scouting.org/. Can we count things that help scouting? Generally OK unless is specifically says, like Eagle Scout projects.
