Salt Valley District Camporee. Webelos can come for the day (as mandated by Guide to Safe Scouting). There will be a knots and lashing activities for them. On Friday there will be a registration link open for Webelos to participate. Starts at 9am, Oct 12, Sat, Branched Oak Area 3 (need Game and Parks permit). There is no lunch provided—need to work with a Troop or bring your own.
School Night for Scouting. If you have more applications to turn in, give to Ray.
Scoutbook class at College of Cub Scouting.
Den Leader Experience (in Scoutbook) has some great features, but it is targeted for brand new dean leaders. The only flexibility it has is allowing you to change the dates of the meetings. However, the agenda for the 12 den meetings is fixed. WARNING: As of Sept 2019, You cannot delete the meetings if you go through the setup. They plan on implementing the ability to hide those meetings you don't want. As a workaround, you can move those meetings to a time way back in the past (like last year).
You can earn the scouter training knot at each level (Cub, Scouts BSA, etc) and earn a device.
Will have a display at the beginning of each roundtable. This week, we have council strips from Cornhusker Council.
Webelos to scout transition. Think Lions to Venture, i.e. all transitions. Biggest barriers to crossover. 1) Lack of communication from Packs to Troops. 2) Finding a good fit. AoL requirements are one troop meeting and one outing, but nice to go visit multiple troops.
Cubs can get repetitive across the years for the youth. Entice Webelos into Scouts BSA with the change of pace. Be sure Troops are reaching out and asking Webelos to continue.
Pack should reach out to a Troop and find a contact. Start making that connection now. Parents have the final say, so make sure parents understand what is going on as well (and they need to be invited to be leaders). Camp with the Troop early in the season.
By January, finalize the Troop of interest. Crossover is typically in February, but it can happen in March or later.
Some Troops invite fast-advancing scouts to hang out with the Troop early.
We'll aim to wrap up the Cub session each month around 8pm.
Most meetings will be at Lefler (it will be somewhere else for 2 months).
