-OA Crossover ceremonies from Webelos to Boy Scouts: Sign up with Cathy Evans <mbcathycc@gmail.com>.
-Webelos that cross over to Boy Scouts should plan on going to Boy Scout camp that summer, ideally at Camp Cornhusker with their Troop. As leaders, get Boy Scouts excited.
-College of Cub Scouting (formerly Pow Wow) now scheduled for Sat, Feb 11, 2017. Will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1740 S 77th St. If already registered, don't need to re-register.
-Sat morning, Jan 7, will be planning training sessions for the district. Looking for suggestions.
-JTE, Scout Sunday, Pinewood Derby emblems available for order from Scout Shop. Recommend calling ahead for bulk orders.
-Salt Valley District Pinewood Derby. March 4 at St. Mark's United Methodist. Registration due by Feb 28. $8 early bird (Feb 16), $12 regular. Each unit gets 10 racers in speed division and 5 cars in show. One person per unit should do registration. Manditory check-in the night before. Really intersted in adult volunteers for Friday 6pm-8:30pm. Parade of flags by unit (bring flag and stand): 8:45 am to prepare and label stand.
-Pack Pinewood Derby. Units do different things in terms of patches and awards. Most important thing is to have fun. Encouraged to used district rules.
-Feb 5 is Scout Sunday (always first Sunday in February). Packs can do anything with church service. Varies by unit. Some process in. Some set up a display table. Related to reverence. Boys can wear uniform to church regardless.
-Blue & Gold banquet in February. Celebrate birthday of scouting. Some units do their crossover ceremony but required. Some do games. Some do Friends of Scouting.
-Religous Awards/Knots: All awards http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/512-879_WB.pdf. PRAY program for Protestant religions https://www.praypub.org/. Jewish http://www.jewishscouting.org/. Catholic http://www.nccs-bsa.org/. Islam http://islamiccouncilonscouting.com/index_files/Page2816.htm.
-Cyberchip. Now required for every rank level. Details at http://www.scouting.org/cyberchip.aspx. After they earn it first time, they can recharge it in subsequent years. They are supposed to sign a card and they are cheap, but one can download a pdf and print it out. Patches are optional.
-Safety Afloat and Weather hazards training coming up in future. Some discussion on what Cub Scouts units can do in terms of boating. Some discussion that it had to be limited to council locations, but website only lists limitation to still water. Needs follow-up.
-BSA Guide to Safe Scouting is a good reference to look up what is authorized.
