Talk to those new adult leaders and fill in pack positions. Charter Organization rep is officially supposed to be filling those adult leadership positions. But Committee Chair and Cubmaster often fill in that role. Start talking to parents. Use family talent surveys.
Support new leaders by talking to them about training. There is a new My Scouting App for iOS and Android. Can now do lots of training, called "MyScouting".
Use Den Leader guide. Use handbooks. Den Leader guide PDFs on scouting.org for download.
Specifically ask individual people. Could have info and sign-up sheets on a board at a meeting. Entice them into something that matches their interests. Want to prevent burn-out. Have a plan for transitions for the next set of leaders. There is a module for this on my.scouting.org. Be systematic about filling roles and developing talent. Shadow roles. Communicate departure dates to the Pack. This will prevent a collapse of the Pack when a key adult moves on to Boy Scouts.
One idea: have every parent involved in something. Can be as small as one piece at a campout, like a single game. Builds from there.
Can have a pack book with notes on history, procedures, etc.
If you've left the Pack to a Troop, try to keep that relationship with a Pack. Minimally, can help with transitions to Troops.
Recognize and thank volunteers. Can do a simple scout calendar ceremony.
Contact Mitchell if you have requests for future round tables.
Kerry on popcorn: Should already have in order and pick-up times. If issues with pick-up time, contact Kerry. Think about storefront sales or extra incentives. Pie-in the face is a great motivator and costs nothing. Lions can sell popcorn, but keep it simple. Perhaps focus on relatives. Can never be mandatory for Lions.
Cub Scout Night at the Museum, Sat, Nov 11, 5:30 – 8:00 pm. Registration will open soon.
College of Cub Scouting. Nov 11. Registration is open.
Learn some knots. Two colors works well. Large ropes work for demo. Hemp rope is too rough. Demonstrate first. Tie second. Learn square knot. Practice and bring your ropes back.
Have youth put their books in Ziploc bag. Include a pencil. Can include rope.
Have a my.scouting account to track your training. Training has been broken into small sections. Can get charts that describe steps for each position.
