2018 Pinewood Derby District Rules. Make sure packs know about these district rules if your pack rules are different.
Big Rock Topic: Retention. Pinewood Derby is huge so plan it well. Can make derby stands as a side activity. Can make Pinewood Derby tie slides. Outlaw races are fun—regular rules don't apply. Can charge if you want to use as fundraiser. Can have pack trophies. Can have design awards in addition to speed awards. Can use Den Chiefs or Boy Scouts in Troops to help run the event. Can have a picture booth. Can use a GoPro on a derby car and post videos to Facebook.
Pinewood Derby clinics are useful. Associated Builders and Contractors is a great place to have your derby clinics.
Friends of Scouting works well at Pinewood Derby.
Interesting closing idea:
Pinewood Derby Conclusion Cubmaster: "At the conclusion of our pinewood derby, I would like to point out that we were all winners here tonight. • Dad has more respect for his Scout, whether a humble winner or a graceful loser. • Mom was proud of her Scout, whether she gave a hug of congratulations or comfort. • The Scouts gained a better knowledge of competition: how to win, how to lose, how to be happy for a friend who is taking home the trophy that we might have wanted for ourselves. • The leaders, in the pride they feel knowing that all of their Scouts have done their best. • Building the car helped bring parent and Scout closer together. Yes, there are only winners here tonight. Thank you all for helping to make the pack go and the Cub Scouts grow. Good night, and congratulations to all of us winners!"

From the floor: a request for council to assemble all of the important codes for the key 3, for example recharter code, service code, advancement code, along with links for these sites. This would help in transfer of leadership.
From the floor: how do I report service hours? Need to ask Alan for code for your unit. Other advice is to have designated person at the pack logging hours. And note, everyone present counts for service, even non-scouts.
Practiced overhand knot variations and bowline.
Knots for adults: These advertise your achievements and encourage others to achieve that as well.
Scouter's Key for Cubmaster's
Note: if someone can't make Roundtable meetings, College of Cub Scouting often counts.
Quick game idea: Without making eye contact, choose a number 1 person and a number 2 person in the room. Now imagine the number 1 person wants you to clean the latrines at Camp Cornhusker and that standing behind the number 2 person will make you invisible to the number 1 person. Go. This is an easy idea to kill some time in a pack meeting.
