Salt Valley District Pinewood Derby. Rules are posted at the calendar event.
Cub Scout Day Camp, June 16-21.
Cub Scout Resident Camp, July 5-7. Note there is a typo on page 9 of leader guide—the correct dates are July 5-7.
Webelos Camp, July 7-10, 10-13, 14-17. In response to past requests, you can select the program. Late registrations will have fewer choices. You register for programs online during sign-up. The parent portal can be used to push program sign-up to parents (and cost payment). Note, parents will not get reminder notices for lack of payment if you use the parent portal.
District Dinner is at Green Gateau reception center.
Wood Badge registration is open. Great way to meet people across the council (and other councils).
Good for experienced and new adult leaders. March 22-24 and April 11-13.
March 9. Webelos shooting sports for anyone in council. Register at council.
April 13. Cub Scouts (Tigers, Wolves, Bear) shooting sports for anyone in council. Register at council.
March 30 is range-master training. Register at council site.
Ideal Year of Scouting: Cornhusker Guide to Annual Program Plan
General website: http://www.cornhuskercouncil.org/resources/ideal-year-of-scouting.html
-Plan year
-Have one fundraiser for the year (i.e. popcorn sales for Packs)
-"Parents meeting" to plan the year. Note: parents meeting will likely increase attendance instead of calling it a committee meeting.
-Brainstorm first. Filter for feasibility second.
-Finalize budget
-Program kick-off to announce your plan for the year
-Plan for leader training, like the College of Cub Scouting
Starting finding out who is going to Cub Scout and Webelos camp. Current Bears go to Webelos camp.
Night with the Stars Hockey Game in March 2. Camp in the clubhouse levels. Sign-up is directly with the Lincoln Stars website.
Scoutbook is now free for all units. Login with the your my.scouting login username and password. Has email and text capabilities. Can use it for RSVP events. Has printable calendars. Can send reminders for meetings. Can set-up reminders in advance. Can put into google calendars with feed.
Ideas for future roundtables:
-Specific first-year information (or at least translate information for first-year participants).
-Can we get supplies at the OEC trading post. Patches and pinewood derby stuff. Seems like a known issue at the council level. We can pre-order cars, but hard to pre-order rank advancement patches. Recommendation is to email the scout shop 2 weeks in advance. For example, you can email purchase order from Scoutbook and provide a date on which you plan to pick up.
-For new leaders--hard to know what you don't know.
-How to implement special awards (Messenger of Peace, STEM)
-Awards vs achievements in scoutbook
-Scoutbook training, but perhaps for people who are not at scoutbook
-Scoutbook app does have some errors that others have noticed. Some items in the website will not be listed in the app. Appears to be a bug in the national system. Consensus in group appears to be to use the website on your phone.
Council pinewood derby does not have a date or location yet. Will be set at a later date.
SV Pinewood Derby is Saturday, Feb 24 (misprint on paper flyer at roundtable).
"SV necklace" is for the roundtable. You can add beads each meeting. You can also add a bead to your Pack string on the "doodle" up front.
