• prohibits a person suspected of gang-related activities from doing proscribed actions 

• applications can be made without notice: the party subject to the order is not informed that the hearing is taking place and does not get a chance to respond to the allegations made against them 

• subject does not receive notice of the order until after it has been decided, and 

• contravention is contempt of court (fine and/or jail time)
