Ask Chilton a College Question: This document serves as a on-going document of students' questions to Chilton. Read over the questions and answers that are already posted to make sure your question hasn't been asked before and then post your question and Chilton will answer when he sees it.
The College Packet: This PDF file is a distillation of several books about applying to college. There are many very helpful tips, planning pages, and pointers on how to apply. Strongly recommended you print and fill out as you prepare for college.
College Scorecard: A fantastic website to compare universities from all over the country by programs, locations, size, name, and much more. The first place to look. A must see.
UC Essay Prep: Wonderful presentation directly from the UC system giving examples of how to write and not write your UC personal statements. Excellent!
Matriculate.org: Great organization shared with me by a former student who found it helpful. Designed for low-income high school student who may need assistance applying and paying for college.
BigFuture: Single best resource for everything about college. Put on by College Board, it's the one-stop shop for everything you need to know about your future life at a university.
Common App: A place to fill out one college application for multiple colleges.
FAFSA: This is a required application process that you and your parents do in order to report to the federal government their income and to determine your eligibility for college financial aid.
SAT: Interesting video by Vox News on the problematic history and use of the SAT and its discriminatory practices
Scholarships:
Scholly App: This website and app are very useful in searching for local and national scholarships.
Stockdale High School Scholarship Listings: Check these out! The most important thing to look at is the "Scholarship Scoop" published by Mrs. Michael in the Resource Center. If you have questions about any of the scholarships, make sure to meet with her ASAP.
Liberty High School Scholarship Listing: This is highly recommended to check out for local scholarships for Kern County high school students.
