7.0.1 Your eBAGIS user account
To upload or download AOIs to or from eBAGIS, a user account is required. User accounts are managed through the eBAGIS web interface. To request a user account, use your favorite web browser to connect with the Basins Database that is listed at the top of your eBAGIS AOI Menu screen. You will need to drop anything listed after the first "/". For example: https://ebagis.geog.pdx.edu/api/rest/ becomes https://ebagis.geog.pdx.edu. Use the Sign Up link in the upper right-hand corner to request a user account. All user accounts have the capability to download an AOI. If you need to upload or delete an AOI, please contact your local NWCC administrator with your eBAGIS user name and request that these privileges be added to your account.
If you have forgotten your eBAGIS password, connect with the Basins Database using a web browser, as described above, and click the Sign In link in the upper right-hand corner. There is an option here to have your password reset and sent to you via e-mail.
7.0.2 Listing the AOIs in the database
The eBAGIS AOI menu may be accessed by clicking the cloud icon on the BAGIS Tools toolbar. The menu tool requires the full name of the server that hosts the Basins database, for example: ebagis.geog.pdx.edu/api/rest/. When you enter a server name, BAGIS will attempt to connect to the server and validate the server/database connection. If the connection is valid, BAGIS will cache the information on your local computer so that you won't have to re-enter the server name in the future unless you want to change it. A connection to the Internet is required for all eBAGIS AOI menu tool functions.
After supplying a location for the Basins database, click the List button to see all AOIs in the database that are available for download.
You also have the option of applying a filter to refine the list of AOIs that appears in the menu. Select your desired filter and click 'Apply Filter' to search with the filter. Use the 'Clear filter' button in the upper right-hand corner of the main screen to remove the filter and show the complete list of AOIs again.
7.0.3 Uploading an AOI to the database
Click the 'Select' button next to the 'Upload aoi path' text box to navigate to the folder containing the AOI you wish to upload. After you select the AOI, BAGIS may pause for a few moments to validate that the folder you selected contains an AOI, that the AOI doesn't already exist in the database, and that you have permission to upload an AOI. If your selected folder passes all of the tests, the 'Add upload task' button will be enabled. You may optionally enter an 'Upload comment' that will be stored with the AOI in the database and that is visible on the AOI list to other users. Click the 'Add upload task' button to start the upload process. BAGIS will create a zip file containing your AOI before attempting to send it to the server. When the zip process is complete and the AOI is being uploaded, a new item will appear in the 'Tasks in process' table.
The status for AOI uploads is not automatically updated. Click the 'Refresh task list' button to query the server as to the status of your upload. If you wish to cancel an upload in process, highlight the upload task in the list and click the 'Cancel Task' button. If the task is cancelled successfully, the status will be set to 'CANCELLED'.
The status will be set to 'SUCCESS' when your AOI has been successfully uploaded to the database. You can remove all completed tasks from the 'Tasks in process' table by clicking the 'Clear completed tasks' button. If you click the 'List' button at the top of the form, your AOI should appear in the list of AOIs.
7.0.4 Downloading an AOI from the database
To begin downloading an AOI, click the 'Select' button next to the 'Add download task' textbox and navigate to the folder within which you would like to store the AOI. BAGIS will download the AOI in a .zip file to that location, extract the AOI files, and delete the .zip file. Select at least one AOI from the AOI list above by checking the 'Select ?' box and click the 'Add download task' button to request the download from the database server. If an AOI of the same name already exists in the download folder you selected, BAGIS will warn you and ask you to confirm that you wish to overwrite your current copy. You can request a download of more than one AOI at a time and BAGIS will download them simultaneously when they become available from the database server.
When your download request has been received by the server, a download task will be added to the 'Tasks in process' list for each AOI you requested. The status is automatically updated for download tasks. If you wish to cancel a download task, you can click on the task to select it and click the 'Cancel Task' button.
After the .zip file containing an AOI has been downloaded to your computer, BAGIS will unzip the file. You will see a status indicator that says 'Unpacking AOI' and your computer may briefly become non-responsive while BAGIS completes this task. BAGIS will delete the original .zip file after the AOI files have been extracted. The status for an AOI that has been successfully downloaded is 'SUCCESS' and the message will say 'Download complete'. Use the 'Clear completed tasks' button if you wish to remove completed tasks from the 'Tasks in process' list.
7.0.5 Deleting an AOI from the database
At this time, BAGIS does not support multiple versions of the same AOI in the database. BAGIS also does not allow you to upload an AOI if one of the same name already exists in the database. If you would like to update an AOI in the database, you will need to delete the current AOI from the database before uploading a new one. If you have permissions to delete an AOI, check the 'Select ?' box for the AOI in the list that you wish to delete. BAGIS will ask you to confirm that you want to delete the AOI before deleting it.
