BAGIS Tools Users Manual

BAGIS tools are a set of tools that can be used with one or more of the BAGIS applications. Although BAGIS tools is packaged with BAGIS-H, the buttons are located on a separate toolbar. Follow the instructions for installing BAGIS-H to install BAGIS tools.

1. BAGIS Tools toolbar

Use the Customize ... Toolbars menu to enable the BAGIS Tools toolbar. The currently available tools are:

• Convert to geodatabase: Converts a GIS Weasel Basin or AOI to the ArcGIS file geodatabase format so that it can be processed by the BAGIS suite of tools

• Convert to weasel folders: Converts a file geodatabase Basin or AOI to a format that can be consumed by the GIS Weasel tool

• File locator: Provides the locations and names of important BAGIS files when supplied with a folder location

• Specify data units: Allows you to view/update the elevation, slope, and depth (precipitation) data units for an AOI

• AOI slope converter: Converts the slope units from degrees to percent or vice versa

• eBAGIS AOI menu: Provides capability to connect with the eBAGIS database for uploading to and downloading AOIs from the server

2. Convert to Geodatabase

This tool can be used to convert a Basin or AOI created with the GIS Weasel to ArcGIS file geodatabase format for use by the BAGIS tools. Use the Select Folder button to select one or more entities to convert. Note that the conversion process may take a long time depending on the size of the area.

3. Convert to Weasel folders

Use this tool to export a file geodatabase Basin or AOI for use by the GIS Weasel tool. Use the Select Folder button to select one or more entities to convert. Note that the conversion process may take a long time depending on the size of the area.

4. File Locator

The file locator allows you to see where important BAGIS system files are located on your computer.

• BAGIS Definition File: Defines system settings for BAGIS. This file is created/updated using the Options menu item in BAGIS

• HRU Delineation Rule Template: Location of template definitions for BAGIS-H. BAGIS-H comes with a set of pre-defined templates but you can modify them or create your own

• Public Parameterization: Reserved for future use with BAGIS-P

• Profile Folder: Reserved for future use with BAGIS-P

• Methods Folder: Reserved for future use with BAGIS-P

• AOI Path: Displays the path to an AOI when one is selected using the Set AOI button

• Weasel Files Folders: Displays the locations of important data layers in the GIS Weasel file structure (if they exist)

• FGDB Files Folders: Displays the locations of important data layers in the BAGIS file geodatabase structure (if they exist)

5. Specify Data Units

Some BAGIS calculations require data layer units that are not maintained natively by ArcGIS. BAGIS stores these units in the metadata of the filled_dem, slope, and PRISM layers. This tool can be used to view and update the data layer units.

6. AOI Slope Converter

Converts the slope units from degrees to percent or vice versa when an AOI is selected.
