3.0.1 Introduction
The Tools menu hosts two buttons that with actions that can be applied to multiple AOIs at the same time. Thus an AOI does not be selected to use these buttons. Both of these actions are long-running, but the menus indicate progress as BAGIS works through the different AOIs.
3.0.2 Batch PDF Export
The Batch PDF Export tool allows you to generate map packages for multiple AOIs while ArcGIS Pro works unattended. A sample map package .pdf file is attached to the Map Functions manual page. To configure the batch tool to run:
Select a folder containing one or more AOIs to export. BAGIS-Pro will iterate through all of the subfolders of the chosen parent folder to locate all valid AOIs. As each AOI is identified, it is added to the list on the tool.
You may optionally copy all of the PDF map packages to a central folder by checking this box. The map package .pdf document for each AOI will be copied to the maps_publish folder of the parent folder. The name of each map package document will include the name of the AOI so that it can be easily identified.
The publisher's name appears on the title page of the map package and can be customized here. By default the publisher name is nwcc_nrcs. This field can be left blank.
You may optionally include some comments that will appear on the title page. This field may left blank.
The Settings File indicates the path to the batch_tool_settings.json file that contains settings used by the batch tool to generate analysis layers. These settings can be customized by an experienced analyst. See the BAGIS-Pro Configuration files page for details on managing the settings file.
BAGIS-Pro will automatically include any AOIs that it finds in the process by selecting the Include checkbox. To exclude a particular AOI or AOIs, uncheck the box(es).
Click the Run button to start the batch process.
Because this is a non-interactive process, it may take several minutes and appear as if BAGIS-PRO is not working. Watch the status indicator for each of the selected AOIs. When processing starts for an AOI, the status will change from Waiting to Started. When the process completes, the status will change to either Complete or Failed.
You can also check the log that BAGIS-Pro writes while it is creating the map package. There is a detailed log in the logs folder for each AOI that can be identified by the date in the title. As BAGIS-Pro progresses, it will update the log. There is also a central log in the maps_publish folder of the parent folder called batch_tool_log.txt that records the success or failure of each AOI.
BAGIS-Pro will report that it is done when all of the selected AOIs have either Completed or Failed.
3.0.3 Migrate to FGDB
The GIS Weasel was a predecessor to BAGIS V3 and BAGIS-Pro. The file structure was similar to the BAGIS file structure but the data layers were not stored in File Geodatabase format as required by BAGIS-Pro. This tool allows you to convert a series of Weasel AOIs to the updated File Geodatabase format while leaving the original Weasel layers in place.
Select a folder containing one or more AOIs to convert. BAGIS-Pro will iterate through all of the subfolders of the chosen parent folder to locate all Weasel AOIs. Before adding an AOI to the list, BAGIS-Pro will check to see if there are already layers in File Geodatabase format. If these layers are detected, BAGIS-Pro requires that you confirm that this AOI should be converted. Any layers in an existing File Geodatabase will be overwritten. As each AOI is identified, it is added to the list on the tool.
Click the Run button to start the batch process.
