Red Hats Band

The Red Hats Band has played for Nottinghamshire Hospice, Hayward House, care homes including Seely Hirst House, Acorn House, Clarendon Court, Mulberry Court and Connect House, The Parkinson's Disease Society, Bromley House Library, the Lenton Martinmas Fair, the Lenton Streat Christmas Fair, Woodthorpe Park Christmas Fair, and the Heritage Open Day and Christmas Fairs at Wollaton Park.

Some of us have played at Nottingham Light Night every year it has taken place since 2014, when two of our members performed in a cell at the Galleries of Justice. In 2015 we played in St Barnabas Cathedral Hall, in 2016 we were in the Long Gallery at the castle, and in 2017, 2018 and 2019 we performed in the Central Library, Angel Row. In 2020 we played in St Peter's Church. In 2024 we played inside Green's Mill in Sneinton.

In 2016 we performed at the Sherwood Arts Festival and at Mapperley Park Open Gardens. In 2017 we played at the Park Open Gardens and took part in "Make Music Day" at Radford Lenton Library. We also played at the Park Open Gardens in 2019.

In 2018 we played again at Mapperley Park Open Gardens, where over £11,000 was raised for charity and we received the following feedback:

"Both visitors and garden openers expressed their appreciation of this year's "Musical offering".  As a tea helper at 20, Carisbrooke Drive, I was able to experience first hand the joy of the Red Hat Band's musicianship.

On behalf of the committee, I should like to thank you and your fellow musicians for outstanding musical services. I hope you will feel that your tireless efforts on that day have been in a good cause!"

In 2018 we also played at the U3A Conference which was held at Nottingham University, where we were made very welcome.

In June 2019 we played at the Neighbourhood Food Growing Festival at the Arboretum, where we received the following feedback: "You set the perfect tone for the day  - a real Village Fayre feel!"
